POSITION DESCRIPTION
An Industrial Hygienist at SET Environmental is responsible to:
Perform fieldwork which may include soil sampling, groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, biological sampling, excavation oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys
Monitor air contaminants using real time monitoring instruments such as photoionization detectors, combustible gas indicators, toxic gas monitors, etc.
Collect air samples for various contaminants using personal air sampling pumps, passive monitoring badges, SUMMA canisters, and other techniques
Collect environmental samples such as soil, drinking water, ground water, surface water, etc.
Work alongside team of Industrial Hygienists and manage team, as necessary
Support environmental project work including investigation, remediation, sample collection, data analysis, while working alongside and supporting Professional Engineers, Project Managers, Senior Managers, Industrial Hygienists on multiple projects
Record and maintains detailed scientific field notes accurately
Provide input into cost estimates and timing for environmental and regulatory affects associated with future activities
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, safety, or related field
Minimum 2 years of experience conducting asbestos inspections, preparing asbestos project designs, and overseeing asbestos abatement projects, including conducting final air clearance testing
Knowledge of OSHA regulation and air sampling methodologies
Experience as a lead-paint inspector/assessor desired
Experience in the construction or heavy industry is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient computer skills including the use of MS Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, coworkers, vendors, and subcontractors, as well as independently
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Excellent problem-solving skills
Valid Driver’s license and acceptable driving record that meets the company safety and insurance standards
Ability to participate successfully in the Company’s drug and alcohol programs to meet client requirements
Ability to wear full-face respirator and personal protective equipment
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
