ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Performs clinical echocardiographic (echo) studies, newborns to adults, for congenital heart disease with a moderate degree of difficulty or complexity requiring knowledge of hemodynamics, physiology, and congenital heart disease.
Completes echocardiography studies strictly following departmental sequence and protocol.
Completes Doppler studies and obtains appropriate color flow and spectral analysis Doppler data including advanced analysis of hemodynamics.
Prepares accurate preliminary summaries of the echocardiography findings for cardiologist interpretation providing documentation of observed echo findings; reviews completed studies with cardiologist
Provides assistance to new sonographers, fellows, and visiting sonographers.
Tracks and documents ongoing training and self-study for quality improvement; maintains a registry of credentials and certifications.
Assists with organizing and developing quality assurance programs.
Maintains clean and safe practices, procedures, equipment, and workspace in order to contribute to a healthy patient care environment.
Completes mandatory occupational meetings and training as outlined by hospital policies; attends all staff meetings with exception of holidays or patient scheduling conflicts.
Performs routine transthoracic echocardiograms on pediatric patients in the network of care and regional sites as needed; and assists with scheduling conflicts, changes, cancellations and workflow issues.
Creates and updates information binders, maintains commission checklists, manages room utilization and organization, reports equipment malfunctions and resolves equipment performance problems; and may be involved in new site development and planning.
