Job Overview

The Nursing House Supervisor supervises activities to achieve the optimum level of health care to patient's and families. This position provides leadership and support to departmental staff through communication, coordinating and facilitating staffing needed to achieve the best possible care for patients.

Additional Information

This position is eligible for relocation assistance, if relocating from 100 miles or greater.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor Science Nursing (BSN) degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of clinical experience required. Pediatric clinical skill/knowledge required.
  • Required License/Certifications: ANCC or Magnet Approved Certification; specialty certification if appropriate.
  • Required License/Certifications: BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR
  • Required License/Certifications: PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • Required License/Certifications: Registered Nurse
  • Required Membership: Membership in a professional nursing or health care organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Lead daily meetings to communicate and facilitate patient progression. Oversee staffing decisions and communicate through rounding to determine staff needs for the best possible patient movement.
  • Support Clinical Coordinator (CC) and Charge Nurse (CN) with staff assignments and prioritization by performing focused rounding frequently and by facilitating problem resolution. Collaborate and communicate all departments and patient portals to facilitate patient flow. Allocate float/flex staff to nursing areas with needs.
  • Inspire creativity and innovation that will cultivate an environment of communication and accountability. Participate in hospital wide committees to impact policies and procedures. Acts as the onsite administrator in the absence of Administrators/Managers/Directors, serving as a lead information source and communicator to all areas in the hospital.
  • Mentor CC and CN through leading by example with communication and collaboration. Give constructive feedback as needed to encourage development of leadership within this facility.
  • Promote patient, family and staff safety by implementing appropriate responses to internal and external disasters. Assist in managing the ongoing effects of external disasters. Identify operational problems and help problem resolutions for improvement. Consistently monitor implementation of all organizational policies, primarily clinical practice standards. Responsible for evaluating the need for and implementing staffing and capacity related advisories.
  • Responsible for the communication of major hospital changes and communicate information to staff, physicians, leaders and key stakeholders. Services as a contract person for questions and concerns presented by staff. Responsible for investigating complaints and take action by initiating service recovery as appropriate.
  • Support and perform Teletracking procedures with Patient Placement Team while providing team assignments and helping the flow of the hospital patients. Monitor the matrix results of the patient progression department and problem solve delays, while working to prevent further delays.

  • Complexity: Work assignment is unstructured and leader is responsible for implementing and managing a variety of objectives, resources, and initiatives to achieve the goals of the function. Duties performed include operational planning; developing standards, priorities, guidelines, processes, measurement (evaluation) systems; implementation of production and performance management standards; and allocating resources. Work is tactical and operational in nature.
  • Decision Making: Employee is responsible for planning, organizing, allocating resources, ensuring compliance with procedures, and achieving the objectives of the function.
  • Communication: Communication at this level is primarily internally focused and involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, peers, directors, and executives. Provides guidance and interpretation of the enterprise's policies, procedures, and standards. Provides information to higher-level directors and executives.
  • Supervision Received: Responsible for achieving the objectives of function within the scope of established guidelines. Employee is expected to resolve problems that arise in the normal course of the work. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and feasibility of decisions.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $87,929.81 to $131,894.71
Hourly Salary Range: $42.27 to $63.41
