Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the SVP, Digital Technology, Banking Solutions, the VP of Engineering, Assisted Channels, will play a critical role in driving innovation and growth for the Banking Solutions business. In a leadership role in the Digital Technology organization, you will be responsible for transforming our talent and driving the development and implementation of next generation digital products across assisted channels, including our banker and teller products. With a focus on digital strategy, you will collaborate closely with product leaders, general managers, and other stakeholders to align on strategic goals and deliver innovative digital experiences. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the company's digital transformation journey, drive customer-centric innovation, and position the organization as a leader in the competitive digital banking landscape. Specifically, the VP of Engineering will be responsible for the following:

  • Establishing, executing, and achieving the technical vision and scaling milestones in strategic alignment with business objectives, customer experience, and revenue goals for a product area in the Digital Solutions business.
  • Partnering closely with the Banking product organization to evolve and accelerate the execution of the product roadmap to maximize the current suite of Digital Solutions and innovate next generation solutions that will drive market share and delight customers with a compelling user experience.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence. This includes identifying and attracting high-quality talent, as well as upskilling the existing team.
  • Driving agile practices and methodologies to enhance speed, flexibility, and delivery efficiency. Identifying and addressing bottlenecks to ensure timely product shipments.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and execute the digital roadmap, prioritizing key features and enhancements that align with the company's vision.
  • Engaging with customers to lead technical discussions, gather feedback, and ensure that digital products meet their requirements and expectations.
  • Owning and managing a subset of the budget for the digital organization, making sound financial decisions, and ensuring the allocation of resources optimally.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the digital banking space, bringing innovative ideas and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Driving and exemplifying best practices and standards, while managing technology debt. Ensure the company continues to drive process improvement and migration to modern architectures. Identify areas for continued consolidation and help the leadership team and company effectively prioritize competing priorities.
  • Actively collaborate with the leadership team to propose technology investments for continued innovation and value creation in alignment with the overall vision and strategy.

Professional Qualifications

  • 15+ years of Engineering experience, with 7+ years leadership experience building high-performing, best in class engineering teams in a high-growth software product environment.
  • In-depth software engineering experience and well versed in the migration of legacy applications to next generation modern platforms.
  • Experience leading a digital transformation ideally within a consumer-focused organization of similar scale and complexity.
  • Strong track-record of building out market leading customer facing products, ideally with a heavy emphasis on Digital.
  • Experience building Digital applications leveraging public cloud and modern architectural patterns (e.g. cloud native, serverless, microfrontends, event-driven, microservices), ideally in a "you build it, you run it" model.
  • Proven track record of hiring, managing, mentoring, and retaining top-performing engineering professionals, and inspiring and leading large engineering teams.
  • Deep understanding and commitment to software engineering principles and processes (e.g., Lean, Agile, DevOps) and continuous improvement through measurement.
  • Deep understanding of security and compliance for managing data, ideally in a regulated industry.
  • Ability to understand a dynamic competitive landscape, synthesize customer feedback, and build and adopt a strategy that differentiates FIS in the market.
  • Excellent communicator, highly innovative with a low ego, capable of motivating and energizing direct reports and peers, with a proven ability to create a highly collaborative working environment.
  • Preferred degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar relevant field preferred

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $202,560.00 - $340,310.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay.
