Job Summary:

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Professional Research Assistant to support Dr. Blake Hill and his team in their groundbreaking research on the molecular basis of mitochondrial homeostasis in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic research environment to make discoveries and discover new molecules for therapeutic development. The Professional Research Assistant will gain valuable insights into the field of mitochondrial biology and have the chance to build expertise in drug discovery and quantitative approaches to mitochondrial research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and completion of experiments for sponsored research projects including sub-cloning, protein expression/purification, medium preparation and cell maintenance by various culturing techniques.
  • Record and compile accurate records, laboratory protocols, and communicate summaries of experimental results including organizing and maintaining research data, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation for publication and funding.
  • Participate in meetings with the principal investigator and staff to evaluate and interpret the validity of data, determine methodologies and evaluate lab procedures impacting the quality and timeliness of research.
  • Organize, supervise, and manage the day-to-day operation of the laboratory including managing the lab budget and ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
  • Communicate with researchers in other laboratories, share ideas and research methodologies to improve the effectiveness of the research.
  • Keep abreast of research techniques and methodologies that might facilitate designated research projects.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Cell Biology, or a related field
  • One (1) year experience working in a research laboratory setting, preferably in the field of molecular biology, cellular biology, or biochemistry
  • Experience using various laboratory techniques, such as cell culture, microscopy, and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Cell Biology, or a related field
  • Experience managing laboratory operations
  • Experience with structural biology methods and mass spectrometry

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$44,203 - $59,409

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
