Job Title: Anatomy Prosection Manager and Instructor

Job Summary:

The department of Cell & Developmental Biology is searching for an Anatomy Prosection Manager and Instructor for the Pre-Clerkship phase of the MD Program with a start date of approximately June 1, 2024. This 1.0 FTE position serves in conjunction with other Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC) faculty and staff to prepareCU's physician graduatesto be systems thinkers, who provide exemplary patient and family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance, dissection, and preparation of 16 human cadavers utilized for educational purposes in the MD program.
  • Ensure that cadavers are meticulously dissected and prepared to facilitate optimal learning experiences for students.
  • Supervise and train both a full-time prosector and hourly student prosectors.
  • Ensure the consistent quality of cadaver prosections through effective training and supervision methods.
  • Manage recruitment, hiring, and payroll for prosection hourly workers.
  • Collaborate with the Anatomy Content Director to allocate resources to MD prosection needs.
  • Develop and implement sustainable continuous quality improvement processes to enhance the educational value of anatomical studies.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Master's Degree (or higher) in anatomy or related field
  • Prior working experience in human cadaver dissection experience (full body)
  • Prior teaching experience in a human cadaver lab
  • Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty appointment (open rank) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the Master's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in an administrative or supervisory role.
  • Human cadaver dissection experience within last 2 years.
  • Human cadaver lab teaching experience within last 2 years.
  • Experience teaching human cadaver anatomy in a medical program.
  • Experience in medical education and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrate an interest in medical student education.

  • Advanced Knowledge of human gross human anatomy
  • Integrity, civility, professionalism, and commitment to School of Medicine values.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with students, faculty, and leadership team members.
  • Ability to be self-directed.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$72,000 to $74,000 per annum

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
