Job Summary:

The Adult Division in the Department of Psychiatry (DOP) has an opening for a part-time (20 hour/week) open rank (Instructor or Senior Instructor) OCD Outpatient Therapist. This position will provide direct patient services in the outpatient OCD program and may be asked to help with Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) as needed.

The outpatient OCD therapist at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Program will join a team of mental health providers treating community members with OCD and related conditions. The primary responsibilities of this clinician are to provide individual therapy sessions utilizing evidenced based practices to treat OCD. This clinician will also be providing group therapy (focusing on psychoeducation, skills development, and experiential) one time/week.

The OCD program team members include psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. The team utilizes an Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) modality for individuals presenting with OCD and related disorders. The therapist must be willing to learn and implement an ERP approach, if not already trained in ERP. This position is hybrid.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides multiculturally sensitive behavior health assessment, triage, case management, and individual and group psychotherapy.
  • Collaborate with other mental health faculty and staff in the provision of mental health and wellness care.
  • Chart patient visits using an electronic medical record.
  • Participate in the development of and administration of individual and group programs including skills development, ERP, experiential activities, and mindfulness.
  • Participate in other programs and service development.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

The ranks are based on how many years a candidate has been licensed and if they want to pursue the promotions track. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling

Senior Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling

Preferred Qualifications (applicable for all ranks)

  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • LCSW, LPC or LMFT with active CO license
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatments including: ERP, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT), and Habit Reversal Training (HRT)
  • Knowledge of OCD comorbid mental health issues
  • Experience treating co-occurring trauma disorders
  • Strong clinical judgement and ability to be self-directed
  • Professional and personal qualities to work effectively with faculty, administrators, and patients.
  • Must be willing to learn and implement treatment modalities relevant to OCD
  • Demonstration of flexibility and problem-solving

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

  • Must be knowledgeable OCD and comorbid mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, and eating disorders.
  • Must have skills in risk assessment, including suicide and violence risk assessment.
  • Must be comfortable with case management and coordination of care.
  • Must be comfortable with a combination of individual and group therapy, as well as working with families.
  • Must be efficient with time management with the ability to see many patients in a row if needed or to use time constructively for administrative or other work.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with all constituencies in the Department of Psychiatry including Departmental Chair, Program Directors, and administrative staff.
  • Self-directed and flexible.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $46,000 to $58,000 for 1.0 FTE

Senior Instructor: $46,000 to $58,000 for 1.0 FTE

LPC/LCSW/LMFT:

Instructor: $68,000 to $80,000 for 1.0 FTE

Senior Instructor: $68,000 to $80,000 for 1.0 FTE

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
